Reed Consulting has launched a range of development and talent management services to help organisations identify employee talent, maximise their employees’ performance and reduce the growing problem of churn.
The company will be working with organisations to assess groups of talented individuals or talent pools. It will offer one-to-one assessment services, looking at an individual’s skills, their potential and the challenges they may face as they progress through an organisation and the level of support needed to overcome these challenges.
Working in partnership with clients, Reed Consulting provides advice for organisations on how to develop and implement the right talent management system. It helps them identify and map talent across the organisation, make better decisions about employee recruitment, development, promotions and succession planning and ensure that organisations get the most out of their people.
The services have been launched in response to the growing skills crisis in the UK. The latest ‘Recruitment, Retention and Talent’ survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) published in June this year revealed that the talent crisis in UK businesses is growing. 86% of companies surveyed admitted they struggled to recruit good people, 80% found it hard to keep staff, with senior managers proving the most challenging to retain. 75% of companies stated that they recruited people with potential, but not necessarily all the skills required for the job.
Mark Hopkins of Head of the Assessment, Development & Talent Practice at Reed Consulting explains, “Every organisation should have a talent management programme in place. Investing in talent management and ensuring that people are in the right roles within an organisation is critical for business success. As the CIPD report showed, 75% of companies are hiring people with skills gaps and a good talent management programme will not only close the gap but ensure that people’s skills and knowledge are being developed in line with business goals. This will make a positive impact on business performance.”
“Talent management also improves staff retention which is proving a costly problem for businesses with the average cost per hire being around £5,000. In this current business climate, staff retention is a problem that businesses cannot afford to ignore,” he added.
