A multi-award winning manufacturer and distributor FMCG products based in the Bath area is currently recruiting for an Assistant Buyer to join their procurement team. Their focus is on exceptional customer service and product innovation.
This position will assist the Category Buyer to meet financial targets through sourcing, and selecting a successful product range, at the best prices available.
You will have responsibility for your own category, building a commercial range, using a combination of data analysis, competitor research, and consumer trends to identify the product, pricing and margin opportunities.
Assisting the the buyer in the building of product ranges and the sourcing and selection of new products
Support the buyer with the briefing of new product opportunities to the New Product Development team considering the development critical path
Responsibility for own product area, determined by the category buyer
Negotiating with suppliers and building long term relationships
Negotiate cost prices and set the initial RRPs
Work with key brands to ensure products are purchased to correct specification at the right price, ensuring that we have appropriate plans in place to support commercial opportunities
Support the buyer with range reviews and projects as and when required
Communicate with wider teams on new products and ranges, providing supporting with the presentation packs for review meetings
Competitor analysis including trends and new launches
Support the buyer through undertaking regular price checks on competitors sites
Research new suppliers and make recommendations to the buyer
Provide administrative support to the buying team including new product listings, maintenance of all internal systems with accurate information updates
Manage samples for all products including timely receipt for range meetings, samples checked for accuracy and stored correctly and managing all sample requests from the business

Successful track record as an assistant buyer or buyers admin assistant
Strong attention to detail
Strong negotiating and communication skills
Extremely adaptable and used to working in a fast paced environment plus an ability to work independently
