A fantastic opportunity to be part of one of Bristol’s fastest growing companies has arrived for an assistant commercial finance analyst. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Commercial Finance and Operational teams to proactively identify issues and opportunities to drive the profitability and efficiency of the group. 

Responsible for: 

  • Driving the profitability through detailed forensic analysis of all site profit and loss accounts to identify issues and opportunities and drive through actions and resolutions
  • Analysis needs to be effective and targeted
  • Investigative approach to accounting
  • Ensuring that all key financial issues are highlighted and discussed with clear actions to resolve
  • To work with the Management Accounting team to deliver accounts to the required standard and accuracy
  • Clear communication of complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • To assist with the calculation of performance related bonuses for the surgeries
  • To assist with the creation and analysis of return on investment cases
  • To assist with training surgeries on financial systems, reporting and techniques
  • Project work as allocated by the Head of Commercial Finance, Group Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive - UK


Person Specification
 

Essential 
 

  • Minimum AAT Level 4 Qualified and already started professional accountancy such as CIMA / ACCA
  • Must have at previous commercial finance experience in a large company i.e. not someone looking to move directly from practice
  • Must have analytical experience and the ability to turn financial data into useful information
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment – flexibility is key
  • Excellent IT skills including intermediate/advanced Excel, proficient Powerpoint and confident on various management reporting systems
  • Detailed understanding of financial processes to be able to identify issues and opportunities
  • Strong attention to detail and able to deliver ‘right-first-time’ results quickly without getting lost in the detail
  • A questioning mind; you should always be looking for where improvements can be made
  • Deadline-focused and willing to put in the effort required to ensure they always meet them
  • Ability to successfully influence clients and colleague in Head Office in a compassionate manner but that still delivers key messages and results.
  • Will need to be happy travelling with occasional overnight stays as the group is national
  • Experience of financial modelling (creating macros in Excel) and multi-site accounting desirable
