A large international software companyis looking for a Principal HR Advisor to provide professional, consistent HR advice to UK employees and managers. This person will often act as a first point of contact for advice and guidance on all aspects of HR practice.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Provide first line professional, comprehensive and timely advice to managers and staff on a range of general HR queries such as sickness absence management, terms and conditions of employment, disciplinary and grievance issues, performance management, and HR policies and procedures
• Manage complex ER cases such as disciplinary and grievances including appeals
• Provide support during times of change on issues including restructuring, redundancies and change of terms and conditions
• Keep abreast of developments in HR best practice and employment legislation and in doing so contribute towards the continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures and assist with promoting and communicating changes to the business
• Participates in UK projects, including communication and implementation of initiatives
• Provides relevant management information such as headcount and attrition rates as required
• Carry out Exit interviews for employees leaving the business at Manager and above levels
• Manages sickness absence cases and proposals for resolution
• Coaching of Managers on areas of HR policy and practice
• Working with managers in the development and implementation of Development Plans and Career Planning as appropriate
• Manage and develop the HR Administrator and support the development of the HR team, including coaching and knowledge sharing
• Design and deliver training to enhance knowledge and skills 
• Knowledge of immigration legislation
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the manager from time to time




• Proven track record of working in an advisory role at a Senior level
• A working knowledge of relevant employment legislation 
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal with a high level of situational sensitivity and confidentiality
• Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload 
• Must be flexible and a team player 
• Experience of handling employee relations issues preferred including redundancy, TUPE and complex Employee Relations issues 
• Proficient in MS Office Applications 
• Able to develop credibility quickly with all key stakeholders within the business 
• Experience of supporting Managers remotely
