An opportunity has arisen at Southend-on-Sea Borough Council to work as a Positive Activities Worker. As part of a team you will be responding to missing episodes, disrupting behaviours, engaging in activities and providing targeted and intensive outreach work to vulnerable young people. You will be expected to work flexible as required which will include evening and weekends. The role is being offered on a full time basis for a one year fixed term contract. The main purpose of this job is to assess and work with children and young people ensuring age appropriate interventions, working to effect change in both behaviour and self-perception. As part of a dedicated team, you will work intensely with those involved to respond to crisis, and missing episodes in order to reduce harm. You will help to disrupt behaviours, engage in activities and help to re-engage Children and Young People into the education system. Alongside targeted and intensive outreach work, you will ensure risk plans are in place and actively managed for all involved. You will also be expected to complete RHI interviews and missing prevention plans.

In order to be successful in your application you must be qualified to PCEP level, degree or equivalent or have relevant experience of working with children and young people. You will be expected to have knowledge of CSE and other forms of exploitation programmes and interventions that can be effective for children, young people and families. Relevant experience of working with children and young people is essential and you will be expected to have relevant experience of working in a youth justice/social care or early help setting.
