INTRODUCTION
As a world leading engineering company with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered solutions to the Aerospace, Power Generation, Marine and Automotive Sectors, my client has a history and pedigree that spans almost 40 years.

Due to a period of significant growth they are now looking to build their already impressive team and take the company into the next phase in their development and to ensure that they are able to continue to service their customers’ engineering needs.


THE ROLE
As a Production Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing, managing and planning for various projects and providing support to the manufacturing, design and sales teams.

You'll provide a central co-ordination point, ensuring that project requirements are delivered within their agreed quality, time and cost standards.

This includes:

• Preparing detailed planning documentation and material schedules according to technical engineering drawings, schemes and customer specifications.
• Coordinating and managing sub-contractors and product suppliers for timely delivery.
• Administering and maintaining relevant spreadsheets and tracking documentation.
• Producing bills of materials and process documentation to support manufacturing operations.
• Creating and providing work instructions for new projects prior to releasing to the shop floor, so that production staff have a complete method of manufacture.
• Determining the required levels of quality and assisting in ensuring that standards are adhered to.
• Liaising with sub-contractors and customer’s engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Purchasing activities and order processing.
• Ensuring management has visibility of all programmes and associated deliverables.
• Proactively offering suggestions or methods that will offer reduced time, cost or risk in the manufacturing process.
• Integrating work with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling Departments
• Supporting the development of new methods, processes, and equipment and applying them to the manufacturing operation.


THE PERSON

In order to be considered for this Production Engineer role it is expected that you will:

• Be educated to at least HNC level within Mechanical Engineering
• Have good knowledge and understanding of precision engineering methods and processes (low volume / high complexity / high value)
• Be able to understand and evaluate machining and assembly drawings 
• Have strong planning and organisational skills
• If you are able to design jigs, fixtures and tooling with SolidWorks, this would be a distinct advantage
• Have a good understanding of manufacturing methods (Milling, Turning, EDM, Welding, Vacuum Furnace Brazing, etc.)
• Have excellent communication skills, with previous experience of customer facing activities
• Have previous experience of sourcing and purchasing materials to aerospace specifications, including exotic alloys and specialised components.
• Have an ability to cope in a highly dynamic development environment where changes in customer requirements are considered normal.
• Have demonstrable excellent skills in attention to detail and working to quality standards.
• Have strong time management skills with the ability to effectively co-ordinate multiple projects, whilst employing critical thinking, logic and reasoning to troubleshoot and solve problems.
Any knowledge based in instrumentation of any nature would be very beneficial (Strain Gauging, Thermocouples, Pressure tubes, UCTS, etc.).
