The purpose of your role will be to provide professional and comprehensive casework to children/young people their families and adopters by offering an efficient and effective social work service. You will recruit, assess and support prospective adopters to ensure that the care they provide meets the needs of the individual child. Locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles you will develop practice which takes a holistic view of the individual having full regard of their education, social, recreational and health needs.
You must have a recognised Social Work qualification and registration with the HCPC. The successful applicant will be involved in the recruitment, assessment and support of prospective adopters. Alongside this you will have the opportunity to be involved in finding families for children requiring adoption and in supporting the child’s social worker in negotiating through the adoption process therefore, knowledge and understanding of adoption legislation is essential. Experience of multi-disciplinary working with children and families will also be useful in this role. The Council is an equal opportunities employer.
